Cubs reliever Adam Warren will be a part of the Aroldis Chapman/Gleyber Torres trade, the New York Post reports. Warren came up in the Yankees organization spending a couple seasons in New York before being traded to the Cubs in the offseason for Starlin Castro. Warren has had an up-and-down season in Chicago, starting red-hot before struggling mightily over the summer. He was optioned to AAA just this week to activate reliever Joe Nathan.
On a personal note, we’re sad to Warren leave Chicago. I grew up with Adam and we were teammates in our younger days. He comes from a fantastic family who are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Adam is one of the smartest and most hard working guys in the business and he has a bright future ahead of him. We wish him nothing but the best as he transitions back to the Bronx.
Another name being floated in the Chapman trade are Cubs outfield prospect Billy McKinney.
We’ll continue to provide updates as we get them.
