The Cubs’ bullpen has been steady this year, thanks in large part to the addition of right-hander Adam Warren. Warren had previously been a member of the Yankees’ staff, before being traded as a key part of the Starlin Castro deal. While in New York, Warren was part of one of baseball’s most prolific bullpens. Among some of the talented arms in that unit was none other than Andrew Miller, Warren’s former teammate at the University of North Carolina.
Still, the initial reports regarding a deal to send Miller to Chicago have taken some hits. It has been reported that the Cubs would not be interested in moving Kyle Schwarber to New York, after rumors had first swirled around the notion of moving the slugging left fielder/catcher in exchange for a solid arm like Miller.
Going forward, it appears that the Yankees are keeping off the gas at the moment, but will surely be talking deals as we move closer to the August 1st trade deadline.
