June 2: Kyle Hendricks Deals As Cubs Beat Dodgers 7-2

Had to throw this one to our guy Kyle. Two great starts in a row, really looks like he’s finding his stride. Today’s effort came out to be 8 innings pitched, 2 runs on 3 hits with only 1 walk. The two runs came on a solo homer and a sac fly.

But what won this game for Chicago was the long ball. Four home runs powered the Cubs past LA. The first to go deep was Javier Baez in the 4th, followed by Jason Heyward and Kris Bryant in the 5th, and then Anthony Rizzo in the 8th.

Baez led the way for Chicago in RBI with 3, thanks in part to the 2 run blast off of Julio Urias. Kris Bryant’s solo shot gave him his 40th RBI of the year, and Anthony Rizzo picked up his 38th.

After Hendricks’ day was done, Travis Wood came on to pitch the 9th. Wood gave up a walk, but was able to retire the side unscathed, preserving the 7-2 victory for Chicago.
