May 11: Cubs Score 4, Padres Score 7, So I Think We Lost?

Been a while since I’ve done one of these so bear with me.

With Monday night’s game being rained out, the Cubs and Padres were rescheduled for a day-night doubleheader Wednesday. Kyle Hendricks started the afternoon game for Chicago, and pitched pretty well. Hendricks allowed 2 earned runs, but struck out 8 in 6 and 2/3 innings. Once again, this was a good start for Hendricks. He gave up 2 in the 1st, but stayed steady the rest of the way.

Then Pedro Strop came in and everything went to shit. After scoring in each of the first 2 innings, and then adding 2 more in the 4th, thanks to doubles off the bats of Russell and Federowicz, the Cubs saw their lead slip away as Pedro Strop gave up an RBI single, followed by a 3-run homer. In the 8th, Neil Ramirez would slip up as well, allowing another Padres run to cross.

Pretty uneventful day for the Cubs. Kris Bryant went 0-5, but Zobrist and Russell both had 2 hits.

Hopefully we fare better tonight as we take on the Padres again for the second half of the doubleheader.
