Well here it is folks. Javy Baez starting the season on the 15 day DL, which likely means Szczur gets the last spot.
So Cubs roster is set for next Monday barring a new injury. Will blog it all

Now, I’ve said before how much I love Baez’s game, and I’ve also said that Szczur is dispensable, but this decision makes sense. Szczur is a good young player with a lot of upside, so it makes sense to avoid putting him on waivers, especially considering the fact that Baez has this thumb thing, which is a perfect excuse to put him on the DL. This little roster manipulation essentially saves the Cubs a player in the long run, the only downside being that Baez has to wait a little longer to start his season. That’s cool though, he’ll kill it in due time.
